Helices position

Now that you are flying you will certainly have some crashes (its normal, don't be affraid).
If in one of those accidents you lose or break one of the helices you just have to use one of the substitution helices that come with the drone (almost all drones have a spare of four helices to change if needed).
Be aware that each helice belong to a motor.
That said you just have to look to each one and use the correct one, if you change the wrong helice your drone will not fly. Here is a schematic of the right helice position on a four motor drone.

As you see the top left helice is the same as the lower right one, so there is no problem if you break/lose the same helice twice.

Lets Start Flying Shall We?

First you must choose your area of training, i suggest you start inside your house (even if your drone is big), or in the garage (you should have an ample space to fly with the less obstacles possible).

Why inside the garage or inside the house? Because flying without wind its easier.
First you must feel confortable with flying, and dont be affraid to crash.
There are simple methods to make your drone survive for 90% of your crashes, but those will be explained after the basics.

Now that you have your "training area" defined you can adjust yourself to the controler.

Go easy with the controller, use sensible and slow movements, if you start going up and down with the left joystick you will have a bad time.
Try to understand where is the stable point of the drone, and if you are going to crash just put the left joystick down (all down, or the helices will not stop).
Don't worry you are protecting your apparel with that fall ;)

Drones Suitable for Training with Low Risk

There are at least two drones suitable for beginners, they don't have camera, these drones are only for training and having fun.

So you have SKYWALKER MINI

It has two speeds (Low/High)and can do two stunts.
As you can see this drone is very well protected you can hit the walls/ground/ceiling without damaging it.

Its very tricky to control because its so small (smaller the drone more difficult it will be to control).

Then you have the second drone SKYWALKER

Yes it looks the same as before but this is bigger and easier to control (bigger drone, more stable).
It has also two speeds (Low//High) and has a special button on the controller (Fly/Run) that if pressed makes the drone without power to fly.
Now you can race with other R/C cars ;)
So... to start these two options are great, because of its resistance and flexibility.

So as i told before there are many  drones out there witch one with a purpose.

lets start by the training drones!

On witch case should you buy a training drone? Its easy! lets go for these tree simple steps.

  • 1st  - Your age
  • 2nd - Have you flight any other flying apparel?
  • 3nd - Do you have a good finger sensitivity?

1st - The age of the "target"(drone user) could be very important, nevertheless there are different situations.

The user should have a minimum of 14 years old to fly, that fact exists just because of our way of understanding sensitivity.

Imagine this, you are a 8 year old kid and everything is happening fast, you only want to see things moving and have no patience at all. So you have an adult telling you to move the joysticks of the controller very gently, but as you don't understand the concept of gentle or slowly you wont have any control on what you are doing, and you will end up having a bad experience.

2nd - Imagining that you are an adult and want to start flying drones you should question yourself about various aspects.

Those should be: Have i flight any apparel before?
                            Am i confident about myself?
                            Am i a patient person?

The process of flying its not that complicated, but you must have in mind that it can be easy for your friends and difficult for you.
You should be confident and shouldn't be afraid of breaking your drone.
You must have patience, there is a process of learning, even if it seems just a toy.

3rd - You should have sensibility in your fingers, know your controller well.
It can vary from controller but it will be the same way of flying after all.

Next time i will post some training drones and will give the basic steps to start flying with security and fun.
